The Hare & Hounds Aberthin
Here at the Hare & Hounds we serve good quality food and drinks in relaxed and informal surroundings.
First and foremost, our pub is a thriving local watering hole that has been keeping locals’ thirst at bay for over 300 years. We still do exactly that, with great ales, interesting wines and homemade seasonal drinks.
Alongside the bar, we offer a small, daily changing, seasonal menu in our dining room. We use the very best produce that the Vale of Glamorgan has to offer. We have some of the most productive soil in the UK, which gives us meat, game and vegetables of the highest quality. The produce available to us from the best Vale producers, our own kitchen garden and our smallholding, dictate what is on the menu from day to day.
Everything is made from scratch in our kitchen, from our own sourdough bread and cultured butter, to fresh pasta. This is not pretentious fine dining; whether you have got something to celebrate or have had a muddy walk with your dog (we are dog friendly in the garden and pub side only!). It is just about good food and a showcasse of regional Welsh cooking.
We are the proud holder of a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide, and we’re featured in The Good Food Guide, the Good Pub Guide and the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide.

“The sourcing of ingredients and the integrity of food.”
Food
Our menus all change twice a day with the seasons, and can be served in the bar, dining room or garden under our stretch tent (in the Summer!). Locality and seasonality is key, and the menu reflects the best of the days local produce.
You can choose from A La Carte, five-course Daily Tasting Menu, or our full nine-course Tasting Menu (24 hours’ notice required) when you dine with us. We also offer a more casual menu in our Bar.
Saver Menu (2 courses for £29, 3 courses for £34) is available on Thursday and Friday Lunch, and Thursday Evenings from 6-7pm.
Our new Wednesday Evening Bar Menu offers Pub Classics. On Sundays, we offer our A La Carte Sunday Lunch Menu.
Recent menus below; please note that our menus do change daily, so will be different when you dine with us.
